Ally Quinn was unavailable through injury but the team did welcome back skipper Gareth Bingham, John Whitten and Jordan Fairley.

On a windswept 3G pitch, it was the away team that started brightly and they almost scored from their first corner after only a few minutes but a defender cleared off the line.

Slane should have taken the lead on 15 minutes when Brian Quilty played an intelligent ball across the box but from seven yards out and the keeper stranded, Jordan Fairley volleyed just wide.

Gregg Harrison then cut in from the right but his shot was easily saved. A low shot 20 yards out by Brian Quilty was saved well by the home keeper. Slane were well on top and the only thing the home team could muster was a 25 yard free kick that was saved comfortably by Stephen White.

Slane continued to pour forward and were creating chances with some nice creative football. Gregg Harrison was slipped in by Brian Quilty but his low shot was superbly saved by the home keeper. From the resultant corner, a Jonny Gibson point blank header looked a goal all the way until the keeper just got to it.

Gregg Harrison headed wide from 10 yards, Darrah Peden struck a post with a back post header and Jordan Fairley misfired 12 yards out as Slane could not find that first goal.

On 45 minutes, the home team cleared their lines and the long ball was chased down by an attacker who broke into the box and fired an unstoppable shot past Stephen White.

Mark Anderson came on for the injured John Whitten and the second half continued as the first with Slane on top. Jordan Fairley had a great chance 12 yards out but just failed to connect. Good work by Gregg Harrison on the right saw Mark Anderson arrive at the back post but from five yards out he just failed to hit the target.

Then Jordan Fairley was through one-on-one with the keeper 14 yards out but he delayed his shot and the keeper smothered the ball. It really was all Moneyslane and it seemed the pressure had paid off on 65 minutes when as Jonny Gibson rose to head goalwards and he was bundled over from behind.

However, Mark Anderson’s well struck penalty was saved by the home keeper. This deflated the away team and although they continued to dominate the game, the Dungannon defence held out.

As the game entered into injury time and Slane throwing players forward the home team broke and scored a second.
