Chairman Russell Ward thanked the first and second team managers for guiding their sides through what proved a difficult and challenging season for both teams.

Dean Brownlee, assisted by Wayne Beggs, is to be commended for staving off the spectre of relegation, the first team maintaining their 1C status in the Northern Amateur Football League by finishing 12th (out of 14) with a record of P26 W3 D6 L17 GF38 GA76 Pts 15.

The second team management duo of Neville Walsh and Keith Halliday are also deserving of praise after similarly avoided the relegation trapdoor in 3E by finishing 11th (out of 13) with a record of P24 W4 D4 L16 GF48 GA111 Pts 16.

Chris Lockhart will need to build himself a new trophy shelf at home after he scored an end-of-season hat-trick by scooping all three of the second team awards: top goalscorer, Players’ Player of the Year and Player of the Year.

For the first team, three players dominated the awards. Steven Haslem was again top goalscorer; Players’ Player of the Year was shared between Steven Haslem, club captain William McMurray and Thomas ‘Pencil’ Martin; and the manager’s choice for Player of the Year went to both William McMurray and Thomas Martin.

Club Young Player of the Year was named as Austyn Biggerstaff.

But the biggest cheer of the night came when the winner of Clubman of the Year was announced. Again, this award was shared, this time between first team boss Dean Brownlee and his trusty sidekick (and young son) Ethan.

Ethan is a much loved and respected member of the backroom staff, and his award is well deserved!

Now the club look forward to next season as the first team will again play in the Amateur League’s fourth tier, Division 1C.
