And after the midfielder found his shooting boots, Watson is keen to see more of the same.

“There were so many superb performances all over the pitch but Chris stole the show with his goals,” said the Town manager.

“It wasn’t just that, his overall play was very good. He was a terrier in midfield, putting tackles and chasing them down.

“He and Kevin Anderson won the midfield battle for us, which is key every week.

“It’s just rewards for him because he has worked so hard to come back from his cruciate injury,” Watson added.

“This season he has been getting into good positions but the finish has eluded him.

“We knew it was going to come and in training, he has been finishing things off well lately.

“It will fill him full of confidence and hopefully he can go on a scoring run now.

“He’s a very talented young lad and he really could go far in the game. He’s a big player for us.”

Watson continued: “It was a well deserved win.

“The lads put in an excellent team performance. All of them played to their levels, as I had said we needed to do,” he added.

“We knew if we did that, we could beat them.

“Watching the guys in training last week, I really fancied us to do it.

“Thursday night was very upbeat; the quality and commitment were there.

“That’s credit to the coach Neil Watson. He’s been putting on good sessions and the lads have responded to that,” Watson continued.

“The focus was all on the Limavady game and the players took everything on board.

“We only had one recognised striker but we played with that system up in Limavady too.

“Neil (Barr) played that day too so it was the same system and he did well It was a deserved three points for us.”
