Laurelhill reach U16 cup semi-finals

LAURELHILL Community College took a step closer to the Maxol Direct U16 cup final with a 3-1 win over hotly-tipped De La Salle.

The final, which is traditionally played on Saint Patrick’s Day, has become a regular fixture at New Grosvenor over recent years where Lisburn Distillery Football Club play host to the local school’s flagship competition.

This season’s final will take place on Monday 18th March (kick-off to be confirmed).

The semi-finals are scheduled to be played on Wednesday February 27 with Laurehill facing last season’s runners-up St Malachy’s. The other semi-final tie will see last year’s winners OLSPCK, take on either Corpus Christi College or St Patrick’s.

There are a number of familiar faces playing for Laurelhill who have a connection with the Whites - Chris Walmsley, Dale Monroe, Jordan Morrison, Danny Hawes and Ben White all play for Lisburn Distillery’s U16 team, coached by Sam Allen and Dickie Evans.

Lisburn Distillery’s Under 16s are currently third in the Lisburn Junior Invitational League, only three points behind leaders Portadown Youth.

We wish all the teams taking part in next week’s semi-finals the very best ahead of the showpiece final in March.
