The ex Banbridge Rangers and Dollingstown forward netted twice in the 4-0 success over Moyola Park, much to his manager’s relief.

“I’m delighted for Neil,” said King, whose side are now up to seventh in the Premier Intermediate League, six points off second with a game in hand. “He’s been putting in really good shifts up front and I’ve just been begging him to get a few goals. We worked with the forward all week and it was great to see him putting a couple away.

“Forwards can perform well all they like but, as any striker will tell you, they’re judged on goals. I’m really happy with what they’re doing and now Neil’s added those goals.

“We were really good. I asked for a reaction from the Bangor game and I got that. The lads were all outstanding.

“Even in the Bangor game, we could have been two or three up before they scored their opener. Scoring the first goal at our level is such a big thing as well.

“Even at 1-0 at half-time on Saturday, I was thinking about the Tobermore game when we missed chances and went in 1-0 up at half-time then they equalised.”
