Key Cup dates await for Town and Moneyslane

Banbridge Town and Moneyslane are in Intermediate Cup action this weekend with both sides aiming to prolong their Cup runs.

Town host Amateur League side Albert Foundry while Slane travel to grace the famous Oval pitch against Glentoran Seconds (both games kicking off at 1.30pm).

Both sides are itching to the involved in the fourth round and Town boss Ryan Watson knows Saturday’s game is a must win to keep their season going.

“We would love to get a good Cup run,” he said. “This is the last cup competition we’re in so we really want to get through to the next round on Saturday.”

Moneyslane, meanwhile, reckon this weekend’s game is the biggest in the club’s history.

“It’s the fact that it’s at the Oval,” explained boss David Johnstone. “We’re going to play at one of the most famous grounds in the country and four years ago, Moneyslane were a Division Two Mid Ulster side.

“That we’re now going to be playing a competitive game at the Oval was unthinkable back then.”
