The match started at a fast pace for both teams and it was the home side who were first off the mark as they created and took several chances. Banbridge seemed to struggle with the attack Comber threw at them and created very little going forward.

When the locals did get forward, it was through the attacking pair of Tiffany Hagen and Tina Brush, who created several chances each but unfortunately could not get on the score-sheet.

The defensive struggles continued and at half-time it was a thumping 5-0 to the home team.

BTLFC came out in the second half to try and set the record straight. They started brightly and created several chances whilst also working very hard defensively. A change in formation at half-time seemed to suit the locals better and allowed them to better deal with Comber’s attacking as well as giving them the licence to attack more fluently.

However, after an unlucky bounce, Comber received a penalty but it was well saved by Danielle Byrne who followed up with another great save from the rebound. This left the final score at 5-0.

Banbridge Town Ladies’ Player of the Match was Katie Lennon. She gave a solid performance from Katie, who showed great desire and versatility as always. She worked tirelessly in defence and attack in what proved to be a tough game.

BANBRIDGE TOWN: D. Byrne, Z. Mitchell, C. Moffatt, S. McDowell, B. Thompson, K. Lennon, M. Spence (C), H. Annett, L. Thompson, T. Hagen, T. Brush. Subs: E. McMullan, R. Kelly.
