Juniors twice surrender lead in defeat to Annagh Utd

However, the locals felt they deserved more from the game having led twice.

The Juniors settled right from the off and with the game only two minutes old, they took the lead. Liam Farrell burst down the line and with his left foot whipped in a pinpoint cross which was met by an in form Jonny Rodgers who had no problem burying his chance to open the scoring.

Annagh started to get back into the game as they began to settle, however the Juniors were still on the front foot, forcing Annagh to play mainly on the counter.

The visitors got an equalising goal on 20 minutes from a corner which was converted at the far post.

The Juniors were still looking menacing despite the equalising goal, with wingers Alex Donnelly and Jonny Rodgers giving the visiting defence a real headache.

Add into the mix a midfield combination of Jack Hamilton and Ryan Sloan and the Juniors were still in the hunt for goals, however they were unable to get a second before the break.

With the second half underway, Annagh were the quicker to put some pressure on but with strong defensive work from captain Jordan Walker and Josh Dennison, they were restricted to long range efforts which keeper Ryan Angus dealt with easily.

The Juniors struck again to take the lead after only six minutes, when wing wizard Alex Donnelly skinned his man down the left and played a great through ball for Liam Farrell to chase down.

Annagh half cleared the move was finished where it started when Alex Donnelly picked the ball up in the box and slotted in with the outside of his foot to put the locals back in front.

Their joy was short lived as they were caught still celebrating when Annagh kicked off and levelled straight away when their striker converted a cross from the left.

A disastrous five minutes was rounded off for the Juniors who failed to regroup and allowed Annagh to take the lead when they again converted a corner.

The Juniors came back to life, and were now chasing the game with the clock against them. The Juniors pushed hard, with Jack Hamilton not giving an inch in the center of the park and Sam McAllister patiently waiting for his chance up front, unlucky not to score when he hit the post after a jinking run.

Annagh held on and condemned the Juniors to defeat in a game they arguably should have gotten something out of.
