Juniors off to Dublin

BANBRIDGE Town Juniors U14’s Lisburn League team are off to Dublin Aul Complex at the weekend to compete in the tenth annual Topflight Dublin Cup.

This is the second year in a row The Juniors have attended this prestigious youth soccer tournament. This year sees the largest number of entries at this age level with teams from Scotland, Canada and the north and south of Ireland all competing at the highest level.

Manager Arthur Downey said: “Last year the boys gained valuable experience and are looking forward to the weekend, confident we can give a good account of ourselves against top drawer opposition on quality pitches”.

The U14s remain unbeaten in their two pre-season friendlies this Summer - defeating Loughgall 8-0 and holding a quality Dundalk/Louth select team (coached by Tottenham Hotspur Academy scout Martin McGuigan) to a credible 2-2 draw in their own backyard, in what was a real pulsating match.

Good luck to all the boys and management team, in what should be an exciting and challenging weekend before the new season gets underway.
