Junior international duo look set for Premiership football with Warrenpoint

Banbridge Town’s two junior international players, Timmy Grant and Chris McGrath, look set to join Danske Bank Premiership newcomers Warrenpoint Town.

Club Chairman, Andrew Cully, confirmed that midfielder McGrath had already agreed terms with the top flight’s new boys while it was highly likely that the highly-rated Grant would be following him out the exit door.

“Timmy is in his seventh year with Banbridge Town and in that time he has been there, done that and got the T-shirt when it comes to intermediate football,” he said.

“It’s going to be a step up for Timmy but I know he will be more than capable of making the mark. He’s been a great servant to this club. In fact he’s like a fine wine - he’s got better with age.

“Chris has also gone, and like Timmy he had been with Warrenpoint before coming back to the club last year.

“He’s a good lad and deserves his chance at making it in the big time.

“Everyone at Banbridge Town wishes the two boys every success with their new clubs. The opportunity to play senior football is not one to be sniffed at,”

Both McGrath and Grant played for NI’s junior international team for their 4-1 win over Dundalk with Grant getting on the scoresheet.
