With an eye on the Cup final, Johnstone chose to rest Darragh Peden, Stephen White and Johnny Kernaghan while the skipper Gareth Bingham and Mark Anderson were rested to the bench. In came David Boyd, Mark Ervine, Josh Buchanan, John Whitten and keeper Nigel Fry.

On a cold and windy day, it was Slane who started well with Mark Ervine first heading just over from a corner and then after sidestepping two opponents, his curled shot from 18 yards was superbly tipped over by the home keeper.

Richill had a great chance when a cross saw their player mis-control at he back post and the chance was gone. The game was contested strongly by both teams in midfield and both teams main threat was from set pieces. Brian Quilty almost snatched the lead when his volley flew just past the far post. Then Josh Buchanan was played in one on one with the home keeper but a defender cleared the ball off the line.

In the second half, chances were scarce as both teams kept battling the elements and each other. Gregg Harrison saw the keeper save two shots while at the other end, Nigel Fry made an excellent block after the ball was gifted to the home team. Gareth Bingham came on for Josh Buchanan.

A back post header by John Whitten saw Brain Quilty just fail to connect. After a good move, Mark Ervine had a shot deflected for a corner. Jordan Fairley then came on for the injured Ryan Shilliday and with 12 minutes to go he scored the winner when he burst into the box to get to a cross from John Whitten and head the ball over the keeper and into the net.

Richhill almost equalised at the death when from a free-kick the ball was headed wide from 10 yards and so Slane ended the league season with another win.
