hONOURABLE DEFEAT IS NOT ENOUGH

The Championship Two side will be on the road in their next four league games, starting with a trip to Seaview to take on Newington on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

After pushing second placed Limavady United all the way at Crystal Park last weekend, Watson is determined to start coming out on the right side of those narrow score-lines.

“We went close but that doesn’t satisfy me,” he said. “I don’t want us to be the team that goes close. I want to be the team grinding out a 1-0 win.

“I’m not content just to put in a good performance. We want to start winning games.

“It just annoys me when I look at the league table now. It’s been so up and down this season but there isn’t a lot between any of the teams. We’ve shown we can match the top sides on our day.

“There are still a lot of points to be played for and we want to get as high up the table as possible.”

Saturday’s show-down is a chance for Town to climb back up to 10th spot and look to reel in the group of sides just ahead in the league table.

Helping their cause will be the return of Glen Waddell, Ally Wilson, Ryan Evans and John Murphy, who could all be back in contention. Watson was keen to stress though that they won’t automatically go back into the starting line-up.

He said: “The guys coming back are experienced players with a bit of know-how on how to get results. In saying that, the lads all did well last Saturday and they’ll have to earn their places back in the side.

“It’s a difficult place to go but Newington aren’t that far above us.

“They’re a typical Belfast side and will be hard to beat down there but it’s about time we got one over on them. With more players available, there’s no reason why we can’t get the three points.”
