Holders are too strong for Banbridge swimmers

FOREST Feast were out and about again at the weekend to watch the very exciting Division A AquaSprint gala between holders Templemore and Banbridge.

Hosted by Templemore, Banbridge arrived off the bus ready for action. Templemore captains Megan Simpson and Aston Edwards looked determined as they sized up the opposition led by captains Jodi Doyle and Patrick McNiff.

After some team photographs the clubs were straight into the water donning their Forest Feast AquaSprint hats – Banbridge in black and Templemore in Silver.

There were so many close races which really kept the spectators on their feet and nobody was quite sure which team had clinched it until the final announcement.

In the end the holders proved just too strong for the visitors with the final score of Templemore 206 to Banbridge 194. Having only been promoted to the division two years ago, Banbridge were delighted with their improvement and hope to make a real impression on the top flight.

Head Coach Geradline Hill commented that Group A had a great gala coming first in all their events and a special mention for Julia Knox at only seven years old coming first in the Butterfly. Group D also had an excellent gala with outstanding times.

Both teams are in action again on the weekend of February 25 with Templemore away to Lurgan on the Friday and Banbridge away to Bangor on the Saturday.
