Coach Nigel Law says Connolly isn’t being brought in simply as a number two keeper.

“John is experienced, fit, fresh and wants to play football too so he ticks all the boxes for us,” Nigel told the Mail.

“He did wonders for DC last year. He’s now come in with us and trained very well with Reggie Hillen our goalkeeping coach.

“He’s not coming in here as a back-up to Andy Coleman. He’ll push Andy all the way for the number one jersey.”
