This Saturday they go to fellow strugglers Dergview (3pm) knowing that they need to improve on their current tally of one solitary point.

But with signs over the last couple of games that things are improving the club’s chairman is hopeful that they can turn the corner sooner rather than later.

“The players have been set a target by Ronnie (Haughey, Banbridge Town manager) for the next four games. As far as we are concerned the season starts here,” said Andrew Cully.

“We need to start building on the points we have and I have been encouraged by what I’ve seen in recent weeks that we can start to do that.”

Mr Cully reiterated his belief that there is a desire amongst the players to succeed and they will be busting a gut to move on from here.

“There is a good spirit amongst the boys and they are all playing for each other,” he said.

“What has been key for us in recent weeks as far as I can see is the stability through the middle of the park. We look incredibly solid.

“Stuart Thompson has been outstanding for us. He’s very physical and stong, both physically and mentally.

“Michael McAllister has been a great asset for us since joining from Warrenpoint. Both his handling and distribution are superb.

“Chris Kingsberry will have been disappointed not to score more than one at the weekend so I am confident he’ll be out to get some sort of revenge for that.

“And Keith Fannin was outstanding on his debut on Saturday past. He’s very hard to knock off the ball and he has an incredibly sweet left peg too.”

Town will be without Matty McCartan for Saturday’s game as he serves the final game of his suspension but Chris McGrath returns. Ryan Cree will be a doubt after being taken off in Saturday’s penalty shootout win over Warrenpoint.
