Four-midable U11s get the win

THERE was excitement in the air as Dromore U11s took to the field against Lurgan.

Could Dromore’s winning streak stretch to five matches?

Lurgan was to prove a stern test as the first half started, with Ben Ingram playing up front and Matthew Magill slotting into midfield.

Although Lurgan did not provide any real goal scares, they were breaking play down as Dromore tried to press forward.

Philip was chosen as captain for the month of October and he started well in midfield, breaking up the play and providing lovely passes.

Matthew Briggs and Adam Jennings provided great ball supply down the wings.

It was after a great run by Adam that he ended in the box but with the keeper closing him down and nowhere to go, so he laid the ball back to Matthew Magill who delightfully lobbed the oncoming keeper.

Any pressure that came from Lurgan after that was mopped up by Morgan, Nathan, Joel and Josh Jennings who had a very good game in goal, keeping a fourth clean sheet of the season. The first half ended with just the one goal to Dromore.

John was not happy with some of the passing in the first half and pointed out quite a few improvements to the boys.

Although Lurgan came out of the blocks fast in the second half with fresh purpose. It was Dromore in the shape of captain Philip who hit a cracker of a shot from way outside the box, to beat the tall Lurgan keeper. This was followed by another screamer from Matthew Briggs as Dromore went three up.

John then brought on Rileigh up front to replace Ben and Alan to replace Matthew Magill. The golden patch was to continue with Rileigh getting his first goal for the club, after rounding the keeper.

Although there were other chances at both ends, which included a header from Adam against the bar, the game finished. The talk at half time had done the trick and the lads were over the moon to get another win and remain unbeaten.

Next week’s game at the leisure centre will be against Sunnyside and will be their toughest test as they are unbeaten too. Please come along and support - the match kicks off at 9.30am.
