On a wet morning in Craigavon, Banbridge Rangers U13’s took to the new 4G pitch at Drumgor to play Armagh City, where they secured a 5-1 victory in the League Cup final.
Banbridge Rangers played to a very high tempo and with two minutes on the clock, Jamie Berry opened the scoring with a tap in following a great run and cross from Tom Stannage. Shortly after this Adam Loughlin made it 2-0 following a goal-mouth scramble and then Tom Stannage scored his first goal to make it 3-0 with less than 15 minutes gone.
Armagh City came back into the game strongly and after a couple of near misses made it 3-1. Intense pressure from Armagh led to a couple of excellent saves from Matthew Hillis before half time.
The second half started with Banbridge Rangers in full flow again looking to kill off the game.
Using his pace to great effect Tom made it 4-1 in scoring his second goal. Tom then got his hat-trick with another slick finish and made the game secure at 5-1.
The trophy presentation followed the final whistle with all the boys and coaches getting their medals and the League Cup trophy – fully deserved after a great performance at the end of a fantastic season for the team.
