Five scorers as Town begin Christmas with a big win

After a three week break, Banbridge Town U17As were delighted to go into the Christmas period with a 6 - 0 hammering of local rivals Newry City.

There was plenty of Christmas cheer around Havelock Park for the supporters as the Town put on a scintillating first half display.

McKibbon got the Town off the mark after only ten minutes, delicately volleying McCandless’ free-kick into the corner of the net.

Fearon got the Town’s second, finishing with ease after a really slick passing move involving Morgan and Houston.

McCandless then smashed the third goal in from 30 yards out and Taylor replicated the feat minutes later with another screamer from long range to make it 4–0 going into the break.

Houston, Morgan, Palmer and Downey were ruthless in defence and kept the Newry attack to only the odd glimpse of McNally’s goal.

McCandless then got his second of the game when his shot was spilled by the keeper and the ball managed to dribble over the line to make it five.

Downey rounded the scoring off for the Town hammering home to the bottom corner from close range with his left foot.

Taylor hit the bar and Fearon found the side netting in the closing stages and David Barr was unlucky on a number of occasions as the Town ran riot.

This was an impressive performance from the Juniors who are now looking forward to the New Year and putting a decent run together as they move into the top third of the Lisburn League table.

TOWN: Eamon McNally, David Houston Paul Morgan, Chris Palmer, Cormac Downey, Jamie McCandless, Odhran McKibbon, Ciaran Duffin, Ethan McDonald, Evan Taylor, Gavin Fearon, David Barr
