Once more it was left to Gavin Fearon to grab the glory with a clinical second half hat-trick for the second week in a row to keep his side in the title hunt at the halfway stage of the season.

Things got off to a bad start for the locals after ten minutes, when keeper Leckey failed to collect a freek-ick and Ridgeway converted.

Things went from bad to worse for the Juniors five minutes later when another terrific free-kick dipped under the crossbar to leave Town shell-shocked.

After some stern words at half-time and the introduction of Downey and McCann, the Juniors began the second half with much more purpose.

Fearon’s first goal was a cool piece of finishing, converting with ease when one on one with the keeper.

Town threw everything at Ridgeway defence who were now “parking the bus.”

However, Fearon had other ideas and with only minutes on the clock he rose highest to head McAtamney’s fantastic left foot corner into the net.

With the match now entering ‘Fergie Time,’ Town were quick to win the ball back from the Ridgeway centre. McAtamney put a clever pass down the line for Fearon to chase and using his pace he destroyed the Ridgeway defence and somehow managed to squeeze the ball into the net with his left foot to win the match.

This sparked unequalled celebrations this year from the players on the pitch with both management and parents ecstatic on the touchline.

There were some excellent performances throughout the team with Ellison, Morgan, McKibbon and in particular Fearon all excellent in the second half. It’s eight wins out of nine now for the Juniors in all competitions, a credit to the players, manager Fred Scappaticci and his coaching staff.

Next up is a return fixture against Willowbank in the final game of the year next Saturday morning, where another three points will be vital.

TOWN: Leckey, Devlin, Ellison, Morgan, Fitzsimmons, McAtamney, Fearon, McKibbon, McKinstry, Rafferty, Byrne, Downey, McCann.
