THE Juniors hosted Lurgan side Sunnyside on Saturday in a Lisburn League Shield tie at Cheney Park.

The visitors, currently struggling at the foot of the table, started brightly and opened the scoring on 10 minutes after a defensive mix up.

The Juniors were finding the Cheney Park 3G pitch difficult to master but gradually worked their way into the tie, Luke Diamond scoring with a neat finish.

The Banbridge boys were now growing in confidence and took the lead, an unstoppable 20 yard drive from Ross Fitzpatrick found the net via the crossbar.

It was all one way traffic now with the locals bossing the game and the inevitable third goal came just before half-time,a Curtis Stewart free kick from 30 yards was cruelly deflected past the Sunnyside keeper.

The tie was now realistically over as a contest but the battling Sunnyside boys kept the locals on their toes. The Juniors were now relaxed, confident and were passing the ball well with the front pairing of Luke Diamond and Kyle Thompson looking sharp and hungry.

It was Diamond who extended the lead further with a cool finish to make it 4-1.
