Dromore Under 14s are well placed in the league after Dungannon win

After a wet day on Friday it was a surprise that Dromore Under 14s league game at Kernan went ahead.

In fact their game was the only game to go ahead at the venue, with all the other pitches being waterlogged.

With Joel failing a fitness test on the morning of the game, Briggs slotted into the back four.

The action started as soon as two minutes when Euan had a chance to score with his first kick, he decided to get the ball under control and shoot which gave the very good Dungannon keeper time to scramble across his goal and save it.

Then shortly after Karl took a great corner and Patrick forced another save.

Dromore seemed to be getting a lot of possession in the first half, but the goals would not come, until Karl and Adam broke away and Karl’s cross for Adam was turned into his own net by the unfortunate Dungannon defender.

No more goals came in the first half.

Liam had a great game along with Jonnie on the right they broke up all the play that was coming down their side.

Karl had one last chance when he broke into the box and his shot was saved by a one handed stretch.

Dungannon came out strongly for the first ten minutes of the second half.

They put five players in midfield and it challenged the midfield of Euan, Morgan Phillip and Liam.

But then two quick goals came. Adam broke up the play on the right, passed to Karl and received the pass back and beat the keeper for the second goal.

Adam then returned the compliment by cooly sliding the ball through to Karl, there was only one winner with the one on one with the keeper.

Dungannon did not give up but the defence of Nathan, Patrick, Briggs and Jonnie did not give way, some great tackles and powerful headed clearances by Patrick. Josh also made two terrific saves too.

You cannot keep Briggs out of the goals. When Dromore won a free kick on their left, Karl was able to find Briggs head at the back post for the fourth goal.

The fifth came from a goal line scramble, with Briggs getting the final touch.
