Dromara Youth teams hold annual awards presentations

Dromara Youth teams recently held their annual awards presentation day at the club and a super day was had by players and families.

Players from their U16s, U13s, U11s and U8s took part in a Mini World Cup, Players v Parents match, Penalty shoot outs and other games. Awards winners were as follows:

U16s – Managers Player – Adam Gregg, Managers Player Runners Up – Jordan Clarke, Players Player – Joshua Gordan, Players Player Runner Up – Philip Kerr, Most Improved – Scott Cheevers, Top Goalscorer – Taylor Graham.

U13s - Managers Player – Jamie Stinson, Players Player – Cory Sweeney, Most Improved – Lucas Cheevers, Top Goalscorer – Cameron Owens

U11s – Players Player – Ryan Walsh, Most Improved – Andrew Reain, Sportsman of the Year – Henry Knox, Top Goalscorer – Ryan Walsh.

A special mention has to go to club stalwart Junior Weller who is standing down after 19 years loyal service to the senior and junior teams within the club. The club would like to thank Junior for all his efforts over the years.

The club’s annual 7-a-side tournament is drawing near and there are still a few places available. With prize money of up to £1000 on offer for winners, runners up, player of the tournament, etc this has become a highlight of the local soccer calendar. The tournament takes place from June 23 with group matches being played during the week, with the top two from each group progressing to the finals on Saturday June 28. The club will be running two big nights over the weekend of June 20 and 21.

On the Friday night, in a specially made Grand Marquee, it is the White Collar Boxing event with fighters from both the local soccer and gaelic club taking part. Tickets are now available from the fighters or any committee member at a cost of £10. Then on the Saturday night, as part of the annual Dromara Festival, the club, in association with the gaelic club will be hosting the big live band, The Reckoners. This promises to be one of the nights of the year and music gets underway at 8.30pm. Entrance is £10. Everyone will be made very welcome to Bellsbridge for what should be a great night.

Evo Soccer Skills continues this Wednesday night 6.30-7.45. Its World Cup Week so it will be action packed with small sided games. At a cost of only £4, it is a great way for boys and girls to learn new skills and meet new friends.
