Donacloney Reserves pick up an important win over Town’s thirds

After a difficult run of games and disappointing results recently, Donacloney Reserves picked up an important and deserved three points on Saturday against Banbridge Town AFC Reserves, in a game that survived the rain due to the 3G surface at Cheney Park.

The inclusion of Steven Leckey was a big boost for the ‘Cloney with last season’s Reserve team top Goalscorer Paul Stevenson currently out injured.

Leckey proved his worth, racing through on goal and making no mistake to make it 1-0.

Young Peter Wylie doubled the lead with his first goal for the club since joining in the summer, a composed and well taken finish after getting on the end of Ben Nelson’s through ball.

Donacloney took the foot off the pedal and the youthful Banbridge side levelled the scores at 2-2, firstly with a penalty kick and the second a simple finish from a right side cross.

Steven Leckey got behind the Banbridge defence and scored his second of the game before Johnny Brown added the fourth to restore the two goal lead and seal the win.

Excluding their two goals, the Donacloney back four restricted Banbridge to mainly long range efforts, and anything ‘keeper Elliot Gibson had to do he dealt with comfortably.
