DJ delighted with his side’s best performance yet

Moneyslane manager David Johnstone was understandably delighted with his side’s 5-2 victory over Wellington Rec on Saturday and even claimed it is the strongest display his boys have put in since he took over the manager’s job.

“That was probably as good a team performance as there has been in my time in charge,” he said.

“We were dominant for most of the game and at times our passing and finishing was just superb. I am pleased for the players that the hard work in training saw them get the reward on Saturday.

“It’s good to have our skipper Gareth Bingham back. Whitten has been a revelation since moving to right back as well and his first half performance at the weekend was phenomenal.
“Brian Quilty was at his creative best and Mark Ervine provided two great finishes for his goals.

“My man of the match on Saturday though was Gregg Harrison who, while not at his best in recent weeks, was unplayable scoring two, being involved in another two goals and causing problems for our opponents all day.”

It wasn’t just the club’s efforts on the pitch, however, that Johnstone praised.

“Can I especially thank the supporters club for their large numbers and vocal support and I know the players really appreciated it. I am sure all will agree that the players delivered a great performance,” he concluded.
