Daly ‘signs’ forthe Red Devils

FIRST the Premier League was taking players from the North West now, they are branching out and signing up the men behind the scenes at clubs.

Michael Daly, who DJ’s on community radio station Drive 105, is making the move to Premier League giants Manchester United’s television station - MUTV.

The 26-year-old, who starts his new editing and production job at Old Trafford next Monday, admitted that his interview at the Theatre of Dreams was a bit daunting.

“It was a bit nerve wracking to say the least, the interview took place in one of the executive boxes, so I was looking out onto the Old Trafford pitch,” he stated.

“But I was confident enough going into it, because they were relaxed, so I was able to talk the talk.”

The former Oakgrove pupil, who moved to Manchester on Wednesday, is already looking forward to starting his new job at MUTV.

“I’m going to be doing some editing, production work and basically everything which I was doing at Derry, apart from not being behind the TV camera, which is something I wanted to get away from,” he added.

“Although I’ll be starting at the bottom it’s still the ideal job and I’ll be looking to work my way up.

“I think MUTV want to cover everything, from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, because they are trying to get everything on-line.”

Daly, who for a number of years was doing similar work on Derry City FC Direct now knows he’s moving up into the big time, but won’t get overawed interviewing and working with the likes of Paul Scholes, Robin Van Persie, Shinji Kagawa and Wayne Rooney.

“It’s a different league all together now going to MUTV, but it’s exciting and I can’t wait to get going, but I learned all the craft from working with all the players at Derry City; they were always helpful and I would like to thank them, the Derry City directors, Declan Devine and the Match Night Live team on Drive 105 for all their help.

“I was doing similar work at Derry City every week for the last season and a half, so I don’t think it will be any different at United.”

However the Larkhill man also concedes if he occurs the wrath from Sir Alex Ferguson, he should be alright as former Brandywell boss Stephen Kenny gave him a ticking off during his early days working with City.

“I think I’ll be a bit fearful of Sir Alex at the start because I remember when Stephen Kenny gave me a dressing down at the very start, but no I think I’ll be alright,” joked Daly.
