Although the lads gave a good account of themselves but the hosts proved too strong and ran out comfortable winners.
The U14s lined up against National League side Coleraine Utd Academy at Iveagh Park and put up a brave fight. They took the lead through Krystian Celmeirskowi before going 2 – 1 down at the break. The hosts refused to lie down and hit back to level again through Lorcan Sloan.
That was as good as it got as they conceded three more to go down 5-2, although this was a very creditable performance against one of the best U14 team in the country who had hit double figures in the previous round against Banbridge Town.
The other Rathfriland U12 team picked up a win over Dungannon, with Caolan Teer bagging four goals for the Swifts.
The U13s had an amazing 5 – 5 draw with St. Mary’s on Friday night despite Brendan Tumilty putting them 5 – 4 up in the second minute of injury time.
The U16s were very unlucky to go down 1 – 0 against Lower Maze and the U17 suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Markethill Swifts.
