BANBRIDGE Town U12s Lisburn League team ran out comfortable 4–0 winners against Hillsborough Boys on Saturday morning at Cheney Park.

The Juniors stretched their unbeaten run to six games in the league and are improving rapidly after their extremely difficult start to the season.

The opening exchanges were physical and Banbridge had to soak up some early Hillsborough pressure before they got a foothold in the game.

Twenty minutes had elapsed when Angus eventually managed to slip in behind the defence and as he tried to evade the onrushing keeper was hauled to the ground for a penalty.

Up stepped Dillon to coolly dispatch his penalty giving the keeper no chance and put the Juniors one up.

Five minutes later Downey’s pass split the Hillsborough defence for Angus to unleash a superb shot into the top corner and leave it 2–0 at half time.

After the break Banbridge picked up where they left off and the towns defence kept Kelso well protected in goal, with the pressure off, the juniors started to play some great one and two touch passing from the back through midfield and began to hem Hillsborough back in their own half.

An inswinging corner from McCandless found McKinstry at the near post who flicked the ball to the net for a delightful goal.

Minutes later McAtamney rounded off proceedings by lobbing the keeper from outside the box to seal the win and another three points.

A convincing win from the juniors keeps their unbeaten run going and ensures confidence is high as they attempt to avenge a defeat earlier in the season against Lisburn Distillery, next Saturday at Havelock Park.
