Chance for the double for Slane Reserves

Moneyslane FC are gearing up for a party on Thursday as their Reserves take to the pitch in their first ever Cup final.

They face Dollingstown Reserves at 6.45pm in Tandragee in the O’Hara Cup final after their routine 4-1 victory over Ballyoran Reserves in the semi-final on Saturday.

Managed by Gareth McDowell, Slane Reserves have already tied up the league title with four games to spare and blew away their opponents in a one-sided semi. However, they’re not done there and the team are now targeting greater things. They want to add to their trophy haul for the season with a Cup victory this week.

Thursday’s game is likely to be the biggest match any of the side’s young players will have been involved in so far in their young careers. They’ll be playing in front of a massive crowd and will be hoping that a sea of blue and white will be in Tandragee to spur them on.

Moneyslane FC were in existence for 26 years before the senior side ever even contested a Cup final and obviously even players who maybe played for a quarter of century didn’t get to experience the glitz and glamour of a Cup final that awaits the in-form reserve team.

Back in Moneyslane, the social club will be live and kicking and will be open right through until 1am, hoping to celebrate a Cup victory.

The Cup final party will be in full swing after the big match as the Moneyslane players and supporters will be coming back to Jubilee Park.

Before then, the club are hoping that all supporters seize the moment and get out in force, heading over to Tandragee for the much-anticipated Cup final.

The Moneyslane team will be quickly back to league action on Saturday as they take on Silverwood Utd Reserves at 2.15pm at Dromore Leisure Centre before another celebration at their promotion party back at Jubilee Park.
