Brian bags a hat-trick as Town AFC are on cloud nine

After a 4-0 humbling at the hands of their visitors earlier in the season, Town AFC had a point to prove on Saturday.

They did so in emphatic style.

Town’s first goal came after only a couple of minutes as Brian Johnston headed in after a Mark Toner corner.

Toner would the provide the second in similar fashion after another whipped delivery was flicked into the far corner by Christopher Burns.

The third came when centre-half Johnston sent three visiting defenders packing as he turned beautifully on the edge of the box before firing home.

In the second half Town AFC carried on in much the same vein as the first. This enabled Daire McCluskey to score the fourth after a great touch allowed a cool finish from inside the box.

The fifth wasn’t long in following, when Burns found Matty McCartan in space and the latter’s dipping, swerving 30-yard drive flew into the top corner.

With 15 minutes to go Burns grabbed his second with a well placed low finish.

Soon after, Johnston completed his hat-trick after a neat turn and finish into the bottom corner.

The eighth goal for Town was scored by sub Nathan Weir after Burns ran past four Crewe defenders and squared the ball to the far post allowing Weir to slot home.

The final goal came courtesy of a Ross Fitzpatrick penalty low to the keepers left in the dying minutes.

This was probably the most complete and ruthless performance to come from the young Town AFC squad and continues their recent run of impressive performances.

Man of the Match went to midfielder Burns who used the ball effectively and worked tirelessly.
