He fills the hotseat vacated by Brian Adair two weeks ago after he resigned from the post.

A former player with the club, Watson took temporary charge of first team affairs prior to Adair’s appointment in November of last year, having previously served as Ronnie Haughey’s assistant.

He will be faced with piecing together a squad ahead of an important season for the club as they aim to bid for promotion from Championship 2.

“We’re delighted to appoint Ryan. He will bring his excellent knowledge of football the area to the club which, I have no doubt, will benefit Banbridge Town moving forward,” said Town Chairman, Andrew Cully.

“It’s the local flavour that we wanted to inject into the club. He knows most of the players too from his time with us last season.

“There’s also a link with the Town Juniors through Ryan’s father, Peter, who is their Director of Football and I’m sure that he will be looking to find out who the best young players coming through the ranks are.”

“Now the hard work starts with Ryan appointing his backroom team, getting the players in place and arranging our pre-season programme, leading to our first league game in August.”
