Bann boys are ‘buzzing’

It’s no wonder they’re looking forward to get back on the pitch - they’re unbeaten in 2015 and are fresh off the back of a last gasp winner against Sport & Leisure Swifts.

That was Town’s third victory on the trot and lifted them up to 10th spot in the Championship Two table.

“Sport and Leisure were in the top four before the game on Saturday so we’ll be approaching this weekend’s game in the same way,” said an eager Town boss Ryan Watson.

“We’ve shown a real improvement since the turn of the year and we really want to keep that going.

“The confidence has slowly but surely been building and the lads are taking more responsibility on the pitch now. They’re all standing up and taking the lead. We were all buzzing after the win and looking forward to Moyola.”

Town will, of course, go into the game without star striker Ally Wilson, who was sent off in the closing minutes of Saturday’s win.

“He will be a miss for us but I have full confidence in the other lads,” said Watson. “We’re used to making do this season so we’ll make a gameplan and we can definitely get a result without Ally.”

The squad will be boosted by the return of Martin Buchanan and Mark Teggart, giving Watson a selection head-ache.

He said: “Everybody knows now that they have to perform to keep their places. Our bench on Saturday was the strongest its been for a while and now we have two first team players coming back in. There will be big decisions to make for this weekend.

“All the lads are busting to get a jersey each week now.”

Moyola came out on top 4-3 at Crystal Park earlier in the season but Watson says his side are now a different proposition.

“We weren’t half the team we are now but they’ll be a big test for us, especially on the 3G pitch,” he said. “We have a good record up there but it’s sometimes a different ball-game than playing on grass.”
