Banbridge lad signs for Premier League club

The young midfielder fulfilled a life-time ambition last week when he secured a three year contract at English Premier League club West Bromwich Albion.

Not only will he join the club under a scholarship for two seasons but he has already been offered the third year on a professional basis.

“Obviously this means an awful lot to me and my family,” Jack told the ‘LEADER, “as its always been something that I’ve wanted to do.

“I’m extremely delighted to be offered a two year scholar and one year pro at West Brom,” he confirmed.

The Linfield youth footballer had been over to the West Midlands club twice on trial and certainly impressed in friendly fixtures against Stoke City and Manchester City.

It seems West Brom’s gain is others’ loss as Chambers had been courted by several cross-channel clubs and had even been on trial at both Glasgow Rangers and Sunderland earlier this season.

It has certainly been a sterling 2016 for Jack.

He was most recently part of the Northern Ireland U16 side that was just four minutes from a historic Victory Shield success before Wales snatched two late goals and the trophy along with them.

Chambers also bagged his first international goal against Scotland during that campaign, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win.

And before all of that excitement, Jack was the Captain of the County Down Milk Cup side at this year’s tournament and lifted the Bertie Peacock trophy for the best county player at the tournament.

Northern Ireland team mate Jack McCourt has also been offered a scholarship by West Brom.
