Ballynure get the job Dun with comprehensive win

Four up after an hour, Josh McIlroy completed the rout with a brace in the closing minutes. The visitors were restricted to a consolation strike.

Ronnie Burns got the show on the road in the 28th minute with a low shot after Sammy Duff had created the opening, but a double strike approaching the interval practically ended the contest.

Johnny Robinson doubled the lead with a fine effort from the edge of the box in the 40th minute and seconds before the interval left-back Mark Curlett drilled in number three after leaving several defenders in his wake.

Dunloy’s expected second half challenge didn’t materialise and their position worsened when lively winger Duff’s thrust ended with a good finish.

McIlroy got his name on the scorecard when he won the one-on-one confrontation with the keeper and after the north Antrim lads prevented the whitewash, McIlroy doubled his tally at the death.

“Despite turning round three up, the first half was a tight affair, but we took our chances,” said assistant-manager Andy Forsythe.

“I was pleased with the work rate and hopefully we can repeat this performance on Saturday when we play the same team again in a league fixture in Dunloy,” he added.
