He takes over from Dan Thornton, who resigned two weeks ago. Frazer had been Thornton’s assistant prior to his resignation and had been in charge on an interim basis.

It was only in the summer that Frazer joined the club as manager of the club’s reserves, but after winning their first seven games he was enlisted to give the firt team a hand.

Prior to joining the club he had spent 13 years at Seapatrick as both a player and manager of their seconds and, most recently, the Havelock Park side’s first team.

Frazer said he was delighted to get the job and said that the vision of making Banbridge Rangers an Irish League club was one he shared.

“The club’s aim is to gain promotion, although I would like for us to consolidate our position this year and go for the title next year,” he said.

“But we are going well at the moment and we have the quarter-final of the Marshall Cup to come.”

He added, “Banbridge Rangers are a massive club with a big set up from the youth teams right up to the thirds, seconds and first teams.

“The have a massive support as well - at the game against Tandragee on Friday night there must have been at least a couple of hundred people at the game.

“The fans have been fantastic too, full of support both for the team and for me as manager and that’s very much appreciated.”

Frazer’s job has been made that bit harder after the departure of captain Neil Clydesdale to Dollingstown, striker Gareth Fulton to Moneyslane and Trevor Tate to Orchard City.

“There’s enough quality in the side to fill the holes,” he added.

“I’ve appointed Colly Cousins as our new captain. One of the first things I noticed when I arrived at the club was that everyone looked up to him and that he was a leader.

“You never see him have a bad game and he always gives 100% for Banbridge Rangers.”
