It meant Dean Brownlee’s stint in charge of the first team began in perfect fashion, with a few goals and a clean sheet at the other end.

The game began with Dromore attacking down the wings, a theme that continued throughout the match with McDonald and Mulholland on the right and Henderson and Mallon on the left.

With the game only minutes old, a cross from Mulholland found Moreland in the middle but he was unable to convert the chance.

Opportunities where made and missed before a corner from the right by Mallon was turned into his own net by a Ballymacash player after Martin had misjudged his finish. This signalled a change with Moreland, who had been forging a good partnership with Haslemere, replaced by Lavery.

The rest of the half continued with Dromore pushing for that second goal but Ballymacash held out and the first half finished 1-0 to Dromore.

The second half started with the back line of Henderson, Martin, Hodgen, McDonald and new signing goalkeeper Thompson in control of what was thrown at them by Ballymacash. In front of the back four was N.Curran and Gilliland.

With Dromore playing some great one touch football, it was only a matter of time until the second goal arrived and midway through the half, it came via a N.Curran shot from 25 yards that the keeper failed to get to.

Dromore made changes to the line up after that strike with S.Curran, McCutcheon, Ward and Herron all getting game time.

The third goal arrived with 20 minutes remaining and it was well worth the wait. Henderson received the ball in his own half on the left and after one touch football involving Henderson, Mulholland, Haslem and Gilliland, he coolly slid the ball between the goalkeeper’s legs.

The game finished 3-0 to Dromore and after the game manager Dean Brownlee reflected on his first game in charge:

“It was good to finally get my first game over with a great performance. The players enjoyed the game and I think it showed in some of the one touch football that was played. Tougher tests are ahead of us and this is just a stepping stone for the season ahead.

“A big thanks go to Ballymacash YM for taking the match at such short notice.”

Next week both the first and second teams are at home to Greenwell Star, 2pm kick-off, at Dromore Leisure Centre.
