Emma gets back in the swing of things at Lurgan

Banbridge driver Emma McKinstry made a return to the driving seat at last Saturday’s Lurgan Park Rally, organised by North Armagh Motor Club.

She was co-driven by Kenny Hull and with backing from local businesses William Bell & Co. funeral directors and The Bridge Bar, Banbridge.

Despite not having driven competitively since February, Emma settled in from the word go in the McKinstry Motorsport Subaru Impreza WRC.

After five stages Emma and Kenny were lying eighth overall only 0.3 seconds ahead of Wesley Patterson and with less than 10 seconds covering 5th to 8th place.

The final three stages would see the route reversed, which seemed to suit Emma.

While the battle for overall honours continued between Kenny McKinstry and Garry Jennings, Emma was the best of the rest setting third fastest time on all three remaining stages, coming as close as three seconds to Kenny in the S14, and climbing the leaderboard to finish the day fifth overall and first in class.

Emma and Kenny would like to thank all at McKinstry Motorsport for a faultless car and also sponsors William Bell & Co. and The Bridge Bar.

Emma will now turn her attention to securing a budget to compete on the forthcoming Ulster Rally in two weeks time.

Emma and Kenny would be delighted to hear from any businesses that would like to lend their support. To do so all interested parties are asked to email [email protected] .

Jennings paid his first visit to the Orchard Motorsport Lurgan Park Rally and duly won at the wheel of his Subaru World Rally Car.

The Fermanagh driver was very much the class act in the County Armagh Park and in front of a large crowd he won by a healthy margin of 12 seconds over the most successful driver in the history of the event, Kenny McKinstry.

With 11 wins under his belt McKinstry came to the event with the aim of making it win number twelve and despite a strong challenge from the Banbridge ace he had to give way to a very on form Jennings.
