Dromore U18s complete treble

Dromore u18s celebrate a try during their Ulster Carpets Cup final victory.

The match had started badly for Dromore with an early penalty conceded for an offside decision but David Pyper quickly drew them level with a penalty of his own.

Rainey then crossed the Dromore line to score an unconverted try, despite some stout defending from centres Marcus Heath and Jonnie Creighton, after a period of sustained pressure from Dromore’s opponents.

Dromore struggled with the wet conditions, spilling the ball in contact situations anď giving away a number of pènalties but scored on the stroke of half-time to once again level the scores.

Adam McDonald fed the ball to hìs back line and David Pyper chipped the ball behind the Raineý defence and won the race to touch down in the corner.

A stern talk at half timè by coaches, Michael Harshaw and Ian McDonald, saw the Dromore team play better in the second half .

Strong ball carrying by Ryan Hughes, Kallem Travers, Ross Bingham, Matthew McMaster, Scott Rogers and Dyĺan McAteer allowed Adam McDonald to kick the team into the Rainey half.

William Beatty scored a try that will not soon be forgotten at the Kingspan stadium to put Dromore five points in the lead.

From a line out, the Dromore pack were joined by the backs to form a maul and push the Rainey pack 45 metres back and over the line to allow Beatty to touch down.

The score remained 13-8 as some robust defendinğ by Dromore closed the game out.
