Dromore secure Mary Moore Trophy win

ON Wednesday afternoon last Dromore Ladies set out for Bangor to play Curran Ladies in the final of the Mary Moore Trophy.

These same teams had met earlier in the season in the final of the Joyce Kavanagh Trophy when Dromore were victorious.

Hence the scene was set for a tense battle between the sides who knew each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

The start of the game saw Curran quickly build up a lead on both rinks. Indeed it was the sixth end when Dromore’s number one rink registered their first scoring shot.

Fortunately they did not lose heart, no doubt encouraged by the progress made by rink number two who also had to come from behind.

As the game progressed rink number one improved their position to finish 10 shots ahead.

Rink number two steadily built a winning lead and although their opponents finished strongly they just would not surrender their five shot advantage.

The following ladies represented Dromore:

RINK 1: M Ward, L Gribben, J Malcolmson, C Ogle - won 21-11.

RINK 2: M Adair, A McGarrity, M Dawson, L Aiken – won 20-15.

This result was a tremendous finale to the 2010 season for Dromore Ladies. The victory was the icing on the cake as it was the third leg of a magnificent treble - Junior League Championship winners, Mary Moore Trophy winners and Joyce Kavanagh Trophy winners.

Congratulations to all the ladies who represented the club throughout the season.
