SATURDAY will see some 250 Dromore residents head for Dublin to support Ulster in their Heineken Cup clash with Edinburgh.
Edward Hanna, a member of Dromore Rugby club Committee, “It came to our attention that a large number of people from within the local area were struggling to secure transport to Ulster’ s semi-final clash.”
“The club decided to try and get buses organised so that we could help support local people who so desperately wanted to see the match but could not avail of transport”
One resident from Dromore stated, “I was thrilled when Dromore Rugby Club were able to offer myself and my family the opportunity to go on their bus as I had given up hope because buses and trains were all booked up.”
Nigel Dale, also a member of Dromore Rugby Club Committee, stated “There were a lot of local people needing transport to the game and I think if we could have been able to get more buses we would have still been able to fill them with rugby enthusiasts of all ages.”
The initiative has also been welcomed by a number of local politicians who have heralded the success of the adventure.
Councillor Carol Black is delighted that the Committee and Members of Dromore Rugby Club have taken imitative to arrange transport for families to Dublin to support Ulster in their Heineken Cup clash with Edinburgh
Councillor Black said it makes perfect sense in these economic times to travel together and enjoy the friendship and community sprit and a wee bit of banter along the way. “Recently I was invited to the Club for their Presentation Awards I was totally amazed at the wealth of talent we have here in Dromore,” she added.
Brenda Hale MLA has also welcomed the move by the club in helping to support community, “I am sure that many people will be glad to have the opportunity to go to the semi-final and I hope Ulster get the result that everybody will be hoping for.”
It promises to be a very eventful day for the club as their Under 15s play Banbridge in the Bowl final, followed by Ulster vs Connacht in the Junior Inter-pro competition.
Dromore Rugby Club would like to thank all those who have helped organise the transport and wish Ulster best wishes for their semi-final clash on Saturday.
