Dromore Fourths play on despite difficult weather conditions

Their match against Queens was postponed due to the universities playing against each other that weekend.

The Fourths started from the whistle trying to move the ball up to the forwards but with so much rain the ball was slow and sticky. Both Cookstown and Dromore fought to gain possession in the first half but both teams had strong defence that kept the score to nil all at half time.

After a team talk by the captain Jenny Winson they were inspired to up their game.

The defence of Ellen Wright, Hayley McQuaid, Katie Reilly and Kirsty Wilson kept Cookstown from scoring with their excellent clearances. The mid field of Jillian Wilson, Jenny Winson and Helen Cantley worked tirelessly to move the ball up to the forwards and to keep the Cookstown players from gaining possession. Sadie Henry, Andrea Wilson and Lynne Nesbit worked together across the pitch to move the ball into Cookstown’s circle. Both Sadie and Lynne having shots on target saved by the keeper. Cookstown fought back gaining a penalty corner, an excellent save by Emma Johnston Gk kept the score at nil all.

Great result for Dromore 4XI who are now playing in Junior 5.

Dame of the game must go to the youngest player Kirsty Wilson for her fantastic defending skills and composure.
