Rebekah Nixon and Rebecca Henderson were both called up for the Home Countries International Cross Country in Falkirk.

“It was such an honour,” said Nixon, who was selected for the junior team while Henderson raced with the seniors.

“The news of the selection was very unexpected but representing Northern Ireland has been something I’d dreamt of doing from a very young age, I was delighted and felt extremely blessed.”

Rebekah ended up a creditable 25th on a hilly 6km course, and again stress the ‘encouragement’ she received from her Bible”

“My dad text me the verse, ‘I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh mine aid? My help cometh from The Lord our God, the maker of heaven & earth.’ This was a great encouragement because there were hills everywhere but these just became reminders that God would supply the sufficient strength to battle them.”

Now for the Dromore girls, the track season approaches with brand new tests.
