Dromore dominate but City come out on top

Dromore Amateurs U13 0

Armagh City U13 1

TAKING to the field for the first time in their new kit sponsored by Island Construction Ltd, Dromore were extremely unlucky not to have taken at least a point in a game in a game in which they dominated large spells and dictated most of the play.

Armagh took the lead after only 12 minutes when their centre forward found himself unmarked and in acres of space in the centre of the Dromore penalty area. He had plenty of time to pick his spot and slot the ball into the back of the net.

Although Armagh did have one or two chances after that – hitting the post on one occasion whilst on another, the home keeper, Jamie Hanna making a superb point blank save, the majority of the match witnessed continuous Dromore pressure as they sought to get the equaliser.

With 15 minutes remaining the home side thought they had finally done it when Dion Dawson chipped the Armagh keeper to send the ball goal-bound. Unfortunately for Dromore however an Armagh defender was alert to the danger and had taken up position on his own goal line to head the ball to safety.

The longer the match progressed the more intense the pressure that Dromore applied on the Armagh goal and as the match entered the last five minutes they threw everything at the visitors as they mounted wave after wave of attack.

Unfortunately however the Armagh defence refused to buckle and Armagh scraped home by the narrowest of margins.
