Dromore Cycling Club hold their AGM

Dromore Cycling Club held their fourth AGM at Dromore Rugby Club on 26th November this year.

Over 40 members attended the meeting to look back on a very successful 2015 and plan for an even better 2016.

The Club now has over 90 members and a busy year of cycling also included several social events from a wine tasting night, A Hog Roast and a Family Day in Castlewellan.

The club also had a bike maintenance night courtesy of Stephen Smith from JR Magills Cycles in the town and a training seminar with Gary McKeegan from Cycling Ireland to provide their members with more skills and information to help with their cycling.

Throughout the year Dromore members have attended many leisure events all over the country and even abroad, with David Burnside taking part in the Majorca 312 event.

They have had good attendance at many of the other local clubs Sportives in 2015 and the Club’s own first ever Sportive in June this year was a fantastic success with over 240 riders taking part and £2,800 raised for local charity Via Wings.

Dromore would like to say a big thanks to all the organisers, volunteers and cyclists for their help in the event which came in the top three Leisure Events at a recent Cycling Ireland poll.

Next year’s has been booked alreayd with a date of Sunday 5th June.

The club has also a competitive squad now who have taken part in local Clubs TTs, Hill Climbs and Aussie Pursuits over the season.

They would like to say a big thanks again to West Down Wheelers, TVR, VC Iveagh, Banbridge CC and Dromara CC.

The Club’s last event will be the Christmas Dinner on 5th December at Café Thyme
