Dromore 7 try blitz

Dromore began their defence of the Ulster cup on Saturday with a 7 try blitz of derby rivals Banbridge. Both teams were up for this game and with Adam Reaney having changed allegiance to Banbridge over the summer there was an under currant of rivalry and unfinished business to this game.

A nervous start by both teams was soon dispelled when Marcus Heath was set loose on the outside centre channel to open the score for Dromore, the try was unconverted. A second unconverted score came from the forwards with a ruck close to the line being driven over by Chris Wilson.

The second half gave Dromore the wind advantage. James Milligan gave an impressive display along with back row partners Ross Bingham and Chris Wilson creating pressure on the opposition backline.

All of them put some crunching tackles into the opposition.

Ryan Hughes was greatly awarded with a superb solo try, receiving the ball on the half way line and bursting through the Banbridge backline. This was converted by Adam McDonald.

Marcus Heath scored again under the posts with a darting run from outside the Banbridge 22m line. McDonald converted again giving a fine display at outside half. Ross Bingham drove over the line in a back move to cap a fine overall display.

David Pyper scored the final try of the day from an incisive full back run. Dromore never really looked troubled and ended the game 41 - 0.
