Double crown for Michael

Michael Beattie was the big winner of the 2014 West Down Zone Championships finals night in Magherally Parish Church Hall.

The Dromore N.S bowler won the Singles title and, in partnership with Scott Jess, also lifted the Pairs Championships.

In the singles decider, Beattie defeated Gavin Clingham of Holm Park 12-6 whilst in the pairs final, he had an 8-3 win over Al Johnston and nine year old Luke Donaldson of St.Patrick’s Donaghcloney.

The All Saints Tullylish trio of Jonny Gray, his father Trevor and Angela Cannaway defeated their club-mates Chris Coleman, Jean and Stanley Black 10-6 in the triples final.

Stanley redeemed himself with a win over Charlie Sherwin, Holm Park again by a 10-6 margin in the fours decider. Stanley was joined on this occasion by Reggie Bolton, David Graham and Harry Hylands.

The Mixed Pairs resulted in victory for the All Saints Tullylish husband and wife pairing, Andrew and Virginia Leckey over the St Patrick’s pair, Andrina and John Gilliland.

The Friendship Cup ladies competion was won by Shirley Livingston (Scarva.St) and the mens by Nickey Garvey (St.John’s Gilford.)

The prizes were handed over by Stewart McFadden.
