Disappointing defeat for U12s

DROMORE finished their George Best league campaign off with a disappointing defeat to North Belfast.

The opening half was littered with poor passes and some disjointed play with the strong wind playing havoc.

The highlight off the first half was Dromore goalie Miguel denying the North Belfast forward with a great save from close range when the forward had raced clear unchallenged.

The second half saw North Belfast attack the Dromore goal more frequent, calling B Scott, J Gregg, J Howard, I Palmer and B Johnston into action.

Dromore also created a few chances of their own on the counter attack but M Brush and O McLuckie saw their efforts easily saved.

North Belfast scored midway through the second half when the Dromore defence hesitated in the box and failed to clear their line when given numerous chances to do so.

In true Dromore spirit the U12s didnt let this deter them and they created two good chances to equalise before the final whistle.

One chance being a strong call for a penalty and the best chance fell to B Scott who was thwarted at the last moment from forcing the ball over the line.

The George Best Man of the Match award went to I Palmer with another fine display in defence.

The U12s now have a two week break before they play in the League Cup Final. This is scheduled for Wilgar Park, Saturday 12th May with a 1pm kick-off.
