Dean blasts his way to Grand National victory at Nutts Corner

It was newcomer Martin Conlon who set the early benchmark but as the laps run out McCrory eased through with the rapid Chris Kincaid on tow.

Kincaid kept McCrory honest all the way to the flag but it wasn’t enough to unsettle the former Junior Rod Irish champion, Kincaid settled for second with Conlon holding on for third.

Earlier on in the evening Kincaid and Willie Murray shared the heat wins before the veteran racer Sam McKay cruised to a rather convincing win in the meeting final almost half a lap clear of the runner up McCrory who nipped into second on the last bend after a well calculated hit on Gordy McKee.

1300s

Chris Hamill was the toast of the 1300 fraternity when he romped to a superb hat trick of wins on a wet and greasy track at Wednesday’s meeting.

The star grader Hamill made the best of a late yellow suspension in heat one to move the long time leader Anthony McIvor aside with only a few laps remaining to secure his first win of the evening.

McIvor looked as though he could last the distance in heat two but Hamill was on the scene on the final bend to move McIvor again for yet another win.

A lively final saw cars spinning and sliding all over the place but amidst the drama’s Hamill kept his cool and soon found himself at the top spot, he completed the distance to take his third win ahead of Anthony McIvor and Ivan Elliot.

SUPPORT CLASSES

Sam Wilson took the flag in both the Junior Rod heats in what was very trying conditions however the young gun was unable to hold of the pressure from the star names in the meeting final.

Jack Patchett emerged as winner of the feature race with Antony Kincaid and Matthew Drysdale completing the podium steps. Wilfie McNiece continued his winning streak in the Stock Rods with victories in both the heats before Stephen Doherty bagged the final silverware, McNiece recorded a second place finish with the British champion Steven McKane in third.

Five young pilots enjoyed another demonstration session in the Junior F2’s where Declan Og McFerran and Tyler McClurkin collected the chequered flag.
