Curtain falls on Town's season

THE curtain fell on Banbridge Town’s season on Wednesday night with a disappointing defeat at home to Loughgall.

Loughgall needed to win to get one hand on the title - and following this win and Saturday’s victory at Ards they are now the champions.

Town dominated the early proceedings and Loughgall were barely able to get a shot on target during the first half.

But they were unable to capitalise upon this and early into the second half Brian Adair put the visitors in front in what was a key game for Niall Currie’s side.

Former Town striker Aidan McVeigh doubled Loughgall’s lead and another former Crystal Park hitman, Andy Brown, secured the win in the latter stages of the game.

As the season ends it means Town finished in ninth place on 27 points, five clear of relegated Coagh United but 10 behind eighth placed Larne.

His young side has potential though and with a couple of additions in the summer they will be looking to improve on this position and stop the inconsistancy that has plagued their season next time around.
