It's NI's first cycling medal in the Games since 1990 since Alistair Irvine's.

The Northern Ireland quartet caught the Indians to win the race before halfway.

Yesterday Madeline Perry was beaten in an epic battle with Kasey Brown in the quarter finals of the women's individual squash competition at the Commonwealth Games.

Perry, from Banbridge, looked as though she was steaming through to the semi-final of the competition when she eased to victory in the first two sets 11-5, 11-6.

But back came Brown, who beat Perry last month in the World Open, to take the third set 13-11 and the fourth 11-9.

In the final set Perry trailed 3-0 at one stage but battled back to be no futher behind her Australian opponent by two points at any one time. At one stage she led 8-6 and was on the verge of reaching the semi final but Brown worked her way back into a 8-10 lead.

With an advantage of two game points Brown looked to be through but Perry stunned her opponent to level the scores at 10-10.

However it wasn't to be for the world number five as her number eight-ranked opponent got the better of her, sealing the win with a delightful volley drop.

- Mark Nesbitt's hopes of individual medal success came to a premature end on Tuesday when he was knocked out of the Men's Individual Recurve Archery event in the round of 16.

He had qualified in 17th in the first round of the competition on Monday and yesterday he was up against Shiek Sojeb from Bangladesh. Nesbitt lost the first set 0(53)-2(54) but fought back to win the second set 2(56)-0(54).

- Meanwhile Louise Aiken does not take part in her 50m Rifle Prone shooting event until the weekend.
