Comfortable win for Scarva Rangers Reserves

SCARVA Rangers’ reserve side sauntered to a comfortable home victory on Saturday.

Visitors Broomhedge Reserves gave the hosts an early scare when they rattled the Scarva woodwork and at the other end Scarva were shooting from distance but failing to find the target.

Ernie Hammond grabbed a hat-trick last week and the in-form striker found the target again, stabbing the ball home to give his side a first half lead.

The visiting keeper saved smartly at the feet of Nathan Dodds and Alex Hammond fired wide as Scarva started the second half determined to clinch a second goal.

It arrived when Alex Hammond played an inspirational pass to Kris Heron on the left flank. His dangerous cross was sent high in the air by a Broomhedge defender and Nathan Dodds laid the ball back to Gregory Morton, who fired clinically home from the edge of the penalty area.

Alex Hammond then sent an unstoppable shot screeching into the net from a similar distance just outside the Broomhedge box as Scarva’s firm grasp on the encounter became a vice-like grip.

Mark Baird came close to adding his name to the score sheet with a shot that was deflected over for a corner and a fine volley from a corner that was headed off the goal line.

Baird then raced on to a quick throw in but it was third time unlucky in his quest for a goal, with the visiting keeper making a great save.

The busy Broomhedge keeper was in action again, this time denying Kris Heron with his feet and denying the hosts an even more comprehensive margin of victory in the process.

Best for Scarva Rangers Reserves – Gregory Morton.
